Build intelligence into your AutoCAD drawings with dynamic blocks. Dynamic blocks allow you to quickly change the shape, size, position, orientation, and visibility of objects in blocks according to parameters and constraints that you define ahead of time. Welcome- Normally, geometry drives dimensions. That is, the dimension is just some information about the geometry.

But we can actually reverse that, so that the geometry is based on a list of values from a dimension. To see what I mean, just double-click on the desk set Block reference, and click Okay to edit the Block Editor environment. So right here we have this parameter that has three different listed values. Go to the Parameters tab, and click Lookup.

Specify the parameter location about right here. That puts in a custom icon, which will eventually turn into a menu of selections. Go to the Actions tab, and click the Lookup Action, select the Lookup Parameter, and we get this rather unusual Property Lookup Table dialog box.

The way that this works is you first add properties, which already exist in the Dynamic Block. In this case we have a linear parameter called 'Distance1.' We'll just click Okay, and it's added over here, Distance1. If I click in this cell, I get this dropdown menu.
