Blue Prism Software Wiki
This Blue Prism Tutorial is designed in a manner to provide you with a good understanding of What Blue Prism is? Blue Prism Features, and Blue Prism Components in detail. Blue Prism is a lot of libraries, apparatuses, and runtime situations for RPA. However, the article focuses on covering details related to Blue Prism and how it is laid out. You will then have a look at how Blue Prism fares in. You can directly jump into a specific section that interests you if you are already aware of the concepts or else go by the traditional approach of understanding the concepts first and then to the actual topics later. In This Tutorial, You Will Learn. What is Blue Prism?Blue Prism Group is the Organization who has come with the enterprise Robotic Process Automation software named Blue Prism, which helps in eliminating high risk and low return manual data entry work.
Blue Prism is a software product that allows businesses with an agile digital workforce.Blue Prism software enables business operations to be agile and cost-effective by automating, rule-based, manual, repetitive back-office processes to improve accuracy and develop a 'Digital Workforce.' The tool offers a flow chart like a designer with drag and drops feature for automating each step of the business process.Blue Prism FeaturesWith access to a self-learning digital workforce evolving continuously improves users with the capability to automate billions of transactions- increase in productivity and returning hundreds of millions of work hours back into the business. Now, let us go through some of the features that Blue Prism offers to their end customers as well. Secure & Accurate: There is a limitless number of processes that need to be executed in this tool.
Blue Prism delivers accurate and secure results to any number of processes you wish to automate. Robust: It provides robust features like data encryption, load balancing, and end-to-end auditing. Application ModellerThe embedded capability within Object Studio, where the configuration to interact with the existing applications of UI elements. These elements are identified by the bot using selected element attributes configured and updated to make them unique for every single element. The bot can then interact with these elements to perform operations over them.Features of Application Modeller:.
Enables software integrators to create software packages automatically and manage the deployment pipeline effectively and accurately. Blue Prisms Application Modeller provides the ability to manage the releases of complex and distributed applications in an innovative way. What is the Blue Prism process?A Business Process is created using, and as we discussed - as Blue Prism Processes are similar to VBOs, Process Studio is also identical to Object Studio. This is depicted in the following figure in some more detail:Just the way we have seen in Object Studio, a process has its own page where the analyst can group on a logical basis. Process Studio just like Object Studio, allows its users to create some logic graphically. Process Studio also provides debugger tools to enable users to step through processes and to understand the logic better. The biggest challenge that someone might face is the business processes being set with the proper values. Hence the feature from Process Studio to keep track of the history of changes that were made and made by which individual, to recover the last working state without any hassles. There is also another issue that analysts face while working with business processes - track of what happens when these are executed.
Blue Prism process can be tested to see how much percentage of chances the process is covering based on the real-time data, which helps them tweak the process a little bit - should there be a need to do it. Immediate feedback can be achieved and also very helpful in making the business process more effective and efficient. As discussed above, a Blue Prism process can be understood as a depiction of a Human user as it accesses applications through their respective user interfaces as a regular user does. To be very precise, to some extent, a Blue Prism process can be understood similar to that of a VBO.The logic of a Visual Business Object (VBO) is implemented within one or more pages. The following figure shows how each page contains the required operations, which are nothing but a set of stages holding the data items used by that operation.A page, when published, allows for it be invoked by Blue Prism process or by other software as well.
A page can be kept private so that it can be used in other pages inside a VBO. Irrespective of the choices made, a page begins with a Start and ends with an End stage (as shown in the figure above).
Blue Prism is ranked 3rd in Robotic Process Automation (RPA) with 13 reviews while UiPath is ranked 1st in Robotic Process Automation (RPA) with 288 reviews. Blue Prism is rated 8.0, while UiPath is rated 9.0.
The top reviewer of Blue Prism writes 'Assists us in risk management through our compliance to regulations '. On the other hand, the top reviewer of UiPath writes 'Easy to use: People with zero technical background can scale up in a matter of weeks and build bots'. Blue Prism is most compared with UiPath, Automation Anywhere (AA) and Pega Robotic Process Automation, whereas UiPath is most compared with Automation Anywhere (AA), Blue Prism and WorkFusion. ProsThe most valuable features of this solution are its scalability, security using the credential vault, and ease of use for business.
The advantage of Automation Anywhere is that you don't necessarily have to come from a programming background. We have improved on IQ Bot collectively with the normal Taskbot that we use.
How it got started was that we have a lot of scanned documents to input for our solution. So, I used to get a lot of scanned documents, and extracting or reading the data from those has always been a pain area. We always used to bring a manual person in to do it. Once a manual person did that activity, it was brought into Excel where I could run the bot. With the entry of IQ Bot, it now takes care of my scanned documents, which means IQ Bot does the OCR extraction and gives my data to the Automation Anywhere Taskbot. This means no manual intervention and end-to-end bot processing, along with a happy customer at the end of the day. We provide these services to multiple clients, so we have been doing this for all of our clients.
From an SAP point of view, we have in-built features. They have integrated everything together, so it's much easier for us to use that. The technical support is good. If it is required that they provide their resources, they will send their resources to your organization to support you in terms of development and technical support.
Blue Prism Vs Uipath
Since our implementation, I can vouch for the fact that it is very easy to use. You do not need to know a lot of coding, even the business users, who have virtually no idea of coding, can easily operate it. They can run their bots and have the analysis ready for higher management. This is something which provides a great ease of use, and also in part why it is scalable.
What really helps RPA to grow is the cognitive part of it. That's where the product is really good.
Initially, it started out as RPA, but now there is a cognitive aspect to it. That's a key value to it. It save us time and provides ROI as a monetary benefit because it reduces FTE, the number of headcount working for a particular project. With Blue Prism, you automate the back-end processes.
Blue Prism is more like service-side automation. It is not off-circuit automation. It is more like attended automation. The most valuable feature is the ability to do surface automation, allowing interaction with legacy systems where terminal emulation is still in use. This solution has increased the speed, accuracy, and happiness of staff involved in the activities for which RPA has been deployed.
The most valuable improvement in utilizing process automation is the cost savings, but we have also had cases where the customer experience is enhanced. The most valuable feature is the design studio and its ease of use. It offers assessments by way of a robotics or automation readiness assessment tool, which was quite helpful. The way you design the flow and configure the activities for the bot is very useful if you are working with any of the BPM or local platforms.
If there is a task that Blue Prism cannot do out of the box, Blue Prism provides me the facility of designing one and integrating it into the application. This process is called Visual Basic Objects. The product helps achieve efficiency that will create ROI and the training and support are very good. An example of how this product has improved the way our organization functions is that it has doubled the number of records that we process per hour.
Unattended robots completely take tasks out of the user's hands reducing error and unnecessary effort on mundane tasks. Its intuitiveness is great. This solution is very user-friendly. There is almost no need to have programming knowledge.
They've got the bolt on the market, so even with the new launches that happen with some of the new tools that came in, I think Connect really speaks to an overall automation strategy. I think that sets it apart. The most valuable features are the scheduler, queues, and activities. His solution has allowed us to tackle tasks that could not possibly be done by humans.
Orchestrator lets you start a credential stair, so you can get the credentials in a safe way. Before this, they were afraid that credentials would be stored somewhere and people could see them. I think it's really important for our customers that you can do that in Orchestrator. The scheduling feature is also valuable of course. ConsBetter use case management to prevent each development from scratch would be an improvement. Because we are very new to our process, so we're still sort of working through it.
I would like a couple more features where I can talk and the line comes up automatically. I can just put on a mic, like in 'Ok Google'. With 'Ok Google', I can tell it to please open an Excel spreadsheet with the header read. Curs eurocor italiana download. If this is there, then I don't even need to sit on a computer, I can just dictate my commands and it will automatically come up. We have in-house, a few variables, which we use from technical perspectives. We don't have them in Automation Anywhere, but they introduced them yesterday.
The initial setup was not that great. The road was very up and down. We struggled. A lot of the features were not compatible with applications which we are using. That was the reason. This was the initial days, we are talking about 2016 to 2017. The buzz was not as much as we are having now.
The initial setup was quite complex. We have faced an issue. During the initial implementation stages, it took longer than we expected. It affected our timelines to a certain extent. Technical support needs to be much faster. I also had the project delivery.
I had six clients whom I looked after. Whenever we got stuck, it was all about sprinting. There was a two or three week sprint. Within that, if you just wait for two to three days, it doesn't make sense.
The support needs to implode, because I was just talking to a customer now who came directly and asked us, 'Can you give us a dedicated support team?' It's feedback from our customer that support takes too long. I suggest that they add some features in dashboard, where you can say, 'These type of features are things that people like more.'
Blue Prism Revenue
You want to add those to your project and showcase them to the client so they will be happier. Because you know what features people like if you give a suggestion, that is good for everyone. They cannot do assisted automation. That is a drawback because that technology is very old now. I would like to see the vendor improve the efficiency of Blue Prism interaction with applications. We would like to see intelligent process automation that integrates RPA and machine learning. We would like to see some desktop automation, although we have been told that the product is not going to be taken in that direction. A feature that I would like to see in the next release is the ability to easily call on the robots to fulfill part of the process, and be run by the users in the business, where the robot can simply be activated rather than running mass processes from a control room.
This solution is lacking attended automation, which is the worst thing about this solution. I would like to see wider integration with other products. I believe that there could be more community support, or there could be more support for developers like us from Blue Prism. Blue Prism provides a lot of documentation, but there is a lack of support.Incorporating more in the way of machine learning and AI would extend the capabilities of the product. We have had some problems with processing errors, but these are largely due to our legacy system and UiPath is working to help resolve the issue. While it is still the best, the usability for end-users without programming experience can be improved.
The initial setup was in between simple and complex. I talked to the product team. They are very passionate about this. In my opinion, all the different components that they have now released should be integrated under a single umbrella, available through a single landing page.
That way, everything integrates with each other and they are able to communicate data back and forth. To me, that would be the ultimate solution. More Excel activities should be included. The initial setup process seemed very complicated.
It's really hard for me to get all the machine learning and AI parts. I think maybe that's going to get a little bit easier for me to understand how to really use it in the company. I don't really know what to do with it at the moment. I think that is something that could be improved. Pricing and Cost AdviceIf we talk about the automation RPA. It definitely has worked very well for us.
I'm talking about giving good savings, about more than 180 FTE savings, after implementing more than 200 plus bots. It has worked well. As an organization, it has supported us very well, and also for our customers. It saves on the quality of work, because the quality can be bad when somebody's doing it. If a bot does the work, it's faster and comes with good quality.
These are two important things along with the cost saving in the long run. That's where the value is. We have seen ROI on one of the process, but not on the other processes yet. The licensing cost is approximately $4,000 USD, which is a seed license. The certifications are free of cost. There are a lot of savings in terms of effort and time as well as costs.
Automation Anywhere automates a lot of processes. It allows an organization to save the efforts of a lot people. It saves a lot of time because people can't work a whole day (24/7), but Automation Anywhere bots can. We are interested in saving manual engineer man-hours. So far, we have saved $100,000. Our company is investing a lot of money in Automation Anywhere.
They have saved money wherever humans are working. They invest a lot of money in FTEs and other logistics, so the money saving is very pretty good with Automation Anywhere. While I don't know the exact figure, the tool is saving us millions of dollars as well as saving about 40,000 hours in the last year. Compared to other tools on the market, it is one of the most expensive. Other than your infrastructure, in terms of servers that you have to set up, I don't think that there are any costs in addition to the standard licensing fees. We really don't bear the costs. The cost is borne by the customer.
It runs into about $100,000 per year per customer for Blue Prism. We normally budget around $30,000 for the first year for the hardware, setup, and people cost. Blue Prism is pretty steep compared to the others, much more than Automation Anywhere.Unattended bots are more valuable than attended bots. Attended is fairly cheap. Anytime you bring in Orchestrator, that starts to become a little more expensive.
I'm a little concerned about all the new SKUs that are coming in and the products associated with them. I am really interested in finding out if someone wanted a full product suite, what kind of money are they looking at annually. The licensing fees for this solution are $8,000 USD annually. I don't know the cost.
Maybe $25,000 for the year. I would definitely say it's worth the money. The licensing fees for this solution are approximately $100,000 USD annually. Right now we only have a couple of Studio licenses and a couple of bots, so we're at about $8,000 USD per year. We have 200 licenses for bots in production and pay between $200,000 and $300,000 per year currently. Our licensing fees are approximately $140,000 USD annually, which includes all of the bots, Orchestrator, and the Studio.
If you need to implement RPA for BPO automation, UiPath is very good with Citrix environment. Where UiPath will provide you both front and back office automation, Blue Prism will only provide you back-office automation as of now.UiPath activities are integrated with variables and one can develop a package and use it.
Blue Prism on the other hand does not really support it with ease.Blue Prism supports debugging while interacting dynamically, which is limitation with UiPath. The mapping process with UiPath is done at a pretty high-speed. Blue Prism, on the other hand lacks recorders. It’s easier to learn UiPath owing to large source of free training and free software for learning and evaluation. It also has certification available for free right now.On the architecture level, Blue Prism has client-server architecture. UiPath combine its Studio software with Orchestrator, which is quite easy to manage. There are certain differences in accessibility and reliability.Where you may access UiPath through browser and mobile, for Blue Prism it is app based.Blue Prism is considered highly reliable, however UiPath is moderate in this respect.UiPath is very good tool for small to medium projects but for large projects Blue Prism provides higher speed. You will find UiPath to be cheaper then Blue Prism. At this point, they are all pretty comparable. Although, I will say UiPath has slightly better tools for inspecting webpage or dialog controls (You'll need that when you run into automation problems - trust me!). Their community forums are pretty active as well.
If you have competent developers, I am sure they can get any of them to do what is needed. In my experience, the licensing model is going to be more of a deciding factor. I'd work out how you will deploy (central server, desktop) and work out your costs. If you don't have a good handle on that, it can be a bit of a shock. Definitely negotiate that with the vendor early on.Most of my clients struggle more with the process analysis, process redesign and rollout management than the technology. UIPATH DIFFERENTIATORSVDI AutomationWhy UIPATH: UiPath offers best-in-class VDI automation that allows relativepositioninteractions, which is both intuitive and easy to develop.BP: Has low support for image automation, and much of the image automationthey do offer is unreliable.
We have not used UiPath, hence I am not able to do a direct comparison. In terms of Blue Prism, we have found it user friendly. We run it as a business tool and not as an IT solution. Hence our approach was to select a tool that did not require “coding” and had a user friendly design studio. Processes are generally quite quick to implement.
The control room is also intuitive and easy to use.The support received from BP has also been good and any technical question raised, gets answered promptly.BP are also enabling partners who automate different parts of a process. This is all evident in their digital exchange. Makes it easier to drop into a RPA process, other tech that fulfills part of the process automation. We are in the processes of looking at how to scale the tool. It is scalable and secure, which is a good feature.
Their pricing model also caters for single Bots to scaled environments with volume discounts. Some lessons in terms of RPA include:1) Take the business along the journey – no matter what tool you use. Without buy-in to the vision around intelligent automation, you will find roadblocks along the way. The business needs to understand the power of a digital worker.2) Establish a vision on automation.
It is more than just large scale process automation. Blue Prism is bring the “human-in- the-loop” solutions to the market which allows us to deploy a Bot within a process and on demand. It changes the dynamics of a “digital co-worker” to being very visible to the workforce3) Get the right skills into your RPA team. Process analysts, business analysts, RPA developers, technical specialist – make sure the skill includes people who can re-engineer processes and are able to see process optimization opportunities. Often the benefits come from looking at how to improve the process, not just automate what is already there.
As with other entities, we are looking to graduate engineers to play a role as they understand “process and control”.4) Adopt an agile build process.5) Ensure that the control environment is built from the start – all the governance is in place even if only for a few Bots6) Ensure that you have a forum to review and prioritise RPA work. Without this, you will find it difficult to report on the value and navigate all the requests from business to automate. We always recommend Automation Anywhere for enterprises. It is the only product that is proven at scale for enterprise clients. In my experience, this is because of product scalability, an awesome CSM team and internal expertise, and a large ecosystem of trained users.Compared with UiPath and Blue Prism, I've seen my customers have most success with AAI. Is very easy for users with varied technical skills to learn and operate. There is free training, easy access to the tool, and advanced Citrix and VDI support.Ability to operate, manage and control bots easily is a big advantage for AAI.
Compared to AAI, Blue Prism is very difficult to use, and UiPath has a very basic orchestrator. We hear complaints about UiPath's inability to manage bots efficiently.I would add Automation Anywhere to your shortlist for attended and unattended automation. I'm very happy to resolve your query. Below is my opinion on your question.1.
UiPath is much better than the Blue Prism, In a Blue Prism, you willget the complex implementation in activities.2. In term of the Demo and practices, UiPath provides a community versionto explore the platform.3. In terms of Licensing, UiPath provides RPA (Robotic Process Automation)aka unassisted bots and RDA (Robotic Desktop Automation) aka assisted bots. Both have different license model and pricing while Blue Prism providesonly RPA platform with a single licensing model.4.
Blue Prism Software Download Free
UiPath provides strong activities guide which is lacking in Blue Prismfor public5. UiPath provides version control at activities level and the user canupdate version according to project need. But in the Blue Prism, it's toocomplex to maintain version at the activity level.6. My personal opinion, it takes time to learn Blue Prism as compared toUiPath.
